Jive Talkin' and other things

It's too late to mess with the camera and posting pictures - I will try to do that tomorrow. But I can give an update on general goings on. Mike is really enjoying the internship. He is staying pretty busy so far and getting to know a lot of the different aspects of Harbor's ministry here in San Diego.

I've been trying to do something San Diego-y with the kids each morning and then try to keep some sort of routine in the afternoon. So far we have been to Sea Port Village, the local library, Balboa Park, Horton Plaza Farmer's Market and then just a lot of general walking about.

Our condo is across the tracks from the convention center. (Trolley and freight train tracks - yes, we have a freight train that passes very close and very loudly by several times each evening. The kids sleep right through it.) Behind the convention center is the harbor. We walked over there tonight and they were doing a sound check for a Bee Gee's tribute band that is performing this weekend with the San Diego Pops. So we strolled to a little Islands in the Stream and Greece is the Word. We watched the sun set over the marina and saw some Navy folks training a dolphin. No kidding. I saw them throwing treats out in front of their boat and the dolphin kept coming up to get them. I thought he got caught in the harbor and they were leading him out - like with a carrot. But some local security guards said he (the dolphin, and several others and some sea lions) live with the Navy there and they are trained to "sniff" out bombs and people and stuff. I am still a little suspicious that they were pulling my leg, but they said it was true.

We also ran into two very sweet Jewish Russian women, probably in their 80's. They loved our children and just wanted to talk and talk. Their accents were very thick. We walked part of the way back with them and hope to run into them again - that may become our evening walking route. I'll take the camera next time so you can see the sunset.

Stay tuned for: Olivia's incident with the skate boarder at the farmer's market.
