Halloween revisited

Well, here's an article for you. What do you think? Has anyone heard this before? Parts of it are familiar to me, but a lot of it is new.

I enjoyed that article and the information it presented that I had not heard before.

I don't suppose to know all the answers, but I have also read competing accounts about All Saints Day being moved from May 13 to November 1st by either (or both?) Pope Gregory III and IV to supplant pagan festivities.

I've always kind of fallen in with the thought that many Christian holidays fall on days previously devoted to pagan activities as a part of conversion. Which is not to say that I think the Christian holidays have any less significance in their meaning, just that they may have been used as a tool of change.

I really don't know now, though, and I think I'm going to do some more research on the whole topic.
